hameln pharma group takes over Vulm AG
The pharmaceutical services portfolio is clearly expanding
Hameln/Modra, June 22, 2006
At
the beginning of June the hameln pharma group took over the Slovakian
company Vulm AG. By taking over the Slovakian pharmaceutical company,
the hameln pharma group is clearly expanding its existing
pharmaceutical services portfolio. The hameln pharma group's future
plans include investing in the new company base in Modra and in the
headquarters in Hameln and increasing further the existing workforce of
435 employees.
"By acquiring Vulm AG we are supplementing our existing range in a
sensible way and at the same time we are gently easing our way into the
East European pharmaceutical market", says Christoph Kerstein, the
managing director and owner of hameln pharma group gmbh, when
commenting on the takeover of Vulm AG. The pharmaceutical company with
its headquarters in Modra, Slovakia, near to the capital Bratislava,
specialises in the research and development of pharmaceuticals. The
present 105 Vulm AG employees carry out chemical, biotechnological and
analytical research, stability studies, pharmacological and
toxicological studies as well as clinical trials and registration
services at the request of their customers who are predominantly
European.
"With its portfolio, Vulm AG is the
ideal complement to the service business of our hameln pharma r&d
gmbh", says Christoph Kerstein. Since the hameln pharma group split up
into three autonomous companies (end of 2004), hameln pharma r&d
gmbh has been responsible for the product developments and registration
services of the hameln pharma group under the leadership of Detlef
Lürig. Following the signing of the acquisition contracts together with
the shareholders of Vulm AG on 06 June 2006 in Bratislava, Vulm AG was
incorporated into the hameln pharma group as a 100 per cent subsidiary
of hameln pharma r&d gmbh. Detlef Lürig has taken over the managing
directorship of Vulm AG. At the same time, Christoph Kerstein, Elgar
von Bernuth and the employee representative Marta Múčková have been
appointed to the Supervisory Board.
Taking over employees – investing in the company base
The
hameln pharma group is clearly intending to invest in pharmaceutical
services in the future; both at the headquarters in Hameln and at the
new company base in Modra. "We would like to keep the key research and
development work in Modra, says Detlef Lürig, "this also means that, in
Modra, we are reliant on personnel who are professionally competent".
Therefore the company wants to hold on to the AG's 105 employees. In
order to be able to grow and expand in the medium-term, increasing
personnel resources is however just as important and necessary as
improving and developing laboratory equipment. "We want in particular
to develop, strengthen and use efficiently the core competences at the
company bases in Hameln and Modra," says Lürig.
